About us
We are a first-generation, family-run farm rooted in a deep respect for the land and the animals in our care. Regenerative farming lies at our core – restoring soil, nurturing biodiversity, and working with nature.
With backgrounds in engineering and epidemiology, we take a pragmatic systems- led approach to farming.

We observe, adapt and make decisions grounded in both science and stewardship. We are fortunate to be backed by a committed family and team – from our shepherdess, a forward-looking steward of the land, to our cultivator, profoundly connected to the soil. Together we see ourselves as custodians, with a duty to protect and preserve this farm, which dates back to 1219, for the future. Above all, we feel a duty to share what we learn along the way. Through education and openness, we hope to inspire the next generation to reconnect with the land.
To keep it resilient we are building a diverse farm – one that can thrive ecologically as well as economically. As the farm evolves, we will create spaces to slow down, stay and reconnect. The farm will offer a place of rest, where people step away from the noise of everyday life and return to the rhythms of nature.

Education
AT RETTE FARM
As a regenerative farm, education sits at the heart of what we do. Rooted at Rette Farm offers hands-on learning experiences that bring food, farming, and nature to life. The farm is a dynamic learning environment, reinforcing so many areas of the curriculum while helping children build a deeper understanding of the natural world and their role in protecting it.
Each visit is practical, engaging, and shaped by the rhythms of the farm.
We are part of the Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme and Farming the Future Twinning Project supported by The Food Partnership.

Caring for animals is at the heart of what we do
Our Animals
Our approach is simple and grounded. We prioritise welfare, natural living conditions, and attentive daily care. Every animal has a purpose, rooted in respect. We raise sheep with care and integrity, ensuring a good life and a dignified end, while supporting and reintroducing native breeds at risk of extinction. These smaller, traditional breeds offer a more sustainable, low-impact approach.
We value natural partnerships, with animals living alongside one another, such as llamas protecting lambs. Nothing is wasted; even alpaca fleeces are repurposed and offered for sale, reflecting our deep respect for every animal.
Animal rehabilitation
Where possible, we work with partner organisations to provide a safe place for animals in need, rebuilding trust, supporting their recovery and long-term wellbeing. Support includes:
- Daily welfare and care – Feeding, shelter, health checks, and ongoing attention from the team.
- Creating space to thrive – Giving animals room to live naturally, graze, and settle into a calm rhythm.
- Education and awareness – Helping visitors understand animal care, responsibility, and ethical farming practices.
